Black Rose Wars is a tactical fighting game among aspiring mages striving to become the next Great Master of the Lodge. Developed over the last three years, it features solid mechanics, tried and tested in numerous trade shows and in many different groups of playtesters. Hello, Magisters!
New update about Wave 2 shipments and other useful information!
The Fulfillments for Asia and Australia are practically over, to report only a small problem for the Australian backers.
Aetherworks sent wave 2 without the replacement pack containing the correct Mage Cards and the Inferno room. Fortunately, they are correcting the error and therefore you will receive them shortly without having to take any kind of action. Promo cards also suffered a small accident as their box was lost for a few days and was therefore not available at the time of fulfillment. You will receive the promo card shortly without having to make any request.
For Europe /UK/ROW Fulfillment Europe will receive the goods (finally cleared from Customs) by the middle of the week, so we can predict the start of Call to Arms shipments between the end of this week and next.
For the USA/Canada, the situation is more or less the same, QML has received the goods but at the moment they have to ends shipments in-progress of other projects, it is likely that fulfillment will begin within the next week.
That's all for now; we will keep you updated on the real dates of the fulfillment departures in the areas where it has not yet started!
Print on Demand language packs Rulebooks
As promised from today it will be possible to book physical copies of the core box manuals (Rulebook and Codex Arcanum) for backers who have purchased any of the language packs.
Using this link, you will access a form where you can enter your request. The inclusion in the list is automatic and therefore the confirmation message that you will see once the form is finished will inform you that your request has been accepted, without the need for further confirmation.
The form to submit your requests will remain open until November 30, 2020, this will be the time for us to have the total number of copies to print and send. It will be possible to request the rulebooks even after this date, but collecting most requests all together will help us to manage the production and shipment of this material.
Shipments of the Rulebooks Print on Demand will start between December 2020 and January 2021, in the meantime next week all versions of these rulebooks will be available on our website in all languages and updated to the English version 1.5 (already available).
We remind you that the production and shipping of PoD Rulebooks are totally free only for backers who bought Language Packs during this KS or the Pledge Manager, and for those who bought the Sator Box from our store during Black Friday 2019.
Swap or Add?
With the arrival of the revised wave 1 material in English in the Sator Box, some of you have asked for clarification on what should be replaced by the base game.
The answer is actually very simple, all the cards you will find in the Sator replace those in the core box. Here is a quick list of cards to replace:
- All Magic Schools spells in the core box (Necromancy, Illusion, Divination, Destruction, Transmutation, and Conspiracy)
- All the Personal Spells of the Core Box Mages (Nero, Tessa, Jafar, Rebecca)
- The tarot reference school cards for Necromancy, Illusion, and Conspiracy
- All Moons Quest cards (core box)
- All Moons Event cards (core Box)
- All Evocation cards
- All Forgotten spells (in this case it's very simple, just use all the foil cards!)
FAQ and Errata
We are compiling a first updated Faq & Errata document with the Wave 2 material, we are confident that it will be ready for the arrival of Wave 2 in the USA and EU.
We have a small list of misprints, which do not represent an obstacle to playability and which compared to the quantity of material produced represents a percentage very close to 0%, combined with the general quality of translations, significantly improved compared to wave 1, marks a clear change for us on this aspect.
That is all for now! We remind you that these are the last days of the Nova Aetas Renaissance campaign, where you will have the opportunity to purchase the Magister Pledge, expressly designed for BRW players which include the Hyperion Expansion, plus all the Stretch goals included among which you can find the Chimera (summonable via a new Forgotten Spell) and two new Mages to add to your collection!

Wave 2 Shipment Update

Hello Magister!
A quick update on the shipping status of the long-awaited Wave 2!
In Asia and Oceania, the fulfillment of the Call to Arms has started this week and already many of you who are in these two regions should have received the delivery notifications, it is therefore likely that the first boxes will arrive in the next few days! Please let us have your feedback as soon as you get the stuff!
For the USA/Canada, the goods remained a few days longer than expected in Miami due to Customs checks carried out on our containers (the goods from China are subject to much more thorough checks following the Covid 19 crisis).
In any case, it has now been released and will soon be received by QML, which informs us (but it is no secret) that it is a very full period of shipments given the large number of projects that are being delivered these days, and that they will undertake to get the Call to Arms boxes ready as soon as possible. Keep following the QML Twitter profile to stay updated on the delivery start.
In Europe, we have a similar situation with regard to customs goods. The ship carrying wave 2 arrived in Hamburg on October 27, but 5 of our containers are currently under inspection by customs authorities, so it will take a few more days before they can be released and shipped to Fulfillment Europe warehouses. Important note for Backers in the UK, unlike wave 1, this shipment will be managed directly by Fulfillment Europe also for the UK; the same is for ROW backers.
Obviously, it must be taken into account that the new wave of Covid 19 could slow down shipments to countries where there are currently regulatory restrictions for health protection.
Before saying goodbye we remind you that the Nova Aetas Renaissance KS is underway and is having a lot of success thanks to the many of you who are following us on this new adventure!

A new Titan is coming

While wave 2 is getting closer and closer to reaching our tables (finally), as announced in the last update, today we present the first Black Rose Wars post-KS expansion, which will feature a new Titan, Hyperion!
But first of all, here is a recap of the current shipment status:

For Oceania, the ship has docked in port a few days ago, as soon as the customs procedures have been resolved, Aetherworks will take the goods. Hopefully, they should start final fulfillment within the next 2 weeks.
The Crono's bad brother
Hyperion is one of Crono's brothers and with him, he shares a gigantic size and immense power!
But while Crono pursued his inscrutable plans and wanted to gain control of the Black Rose to carry them out, Hyperion has only one goal, to take control of the Lodge in order to absorb its power and then destroy it, so that no mortal will ever dare to aspire to gain power similar to his.
Fear the power of the Sun!
Magic scholars speculate that the link between Hyperion and the Black Rose is even deeper and that some schools (mainly Destruction and Elemental) were founded centuries ago thanks to its hidden influence. It is no coincidence that lately the Magisters of these schools have had nightmares and visions that heralded the return of the flaming Titan, angry with the Black Rose for the use she made of his gifts and eager to take back what is his!
What's in the box
This rich expansion will delight all BRW fans by giving you everything you need to bring Hyperion into your games. Let's start with the miniatures.
Hyperion's gigantic miniature will leave you speechless. The towering Titan will make even Crono pale with its size and will bring back details common to all Titans in the Nova Aetas Chronicles universe, such as hands and chains.
Who is the bigger Titan in the Lodge?
In addition to Hyperion, you will find 3 Flaming Myrmidons, his faithful servants who share the aspect of warriors of antiquity with the Titan.

You will also have 3 New Lodge Rooms that can be used in games in which you involve Hyperion and which will have particular effects during the game.
Hyperion new Rooms
In games where you decide to use Hyperion a player will have to take control of it and play like a Mage... but a truly asymmetrical Mage, even compared to the new Asymmetrical Mages you are about to receive. Hyperion will have his double-sided Mage Card, where on one side you will find his Titan incarnation, while on the other you will find his alternate incarnation composed of the 3 Myrmidons. This is because during the game the player who controls him will be able to change form as he likes by activating different effects depending on his incarnation. In its original form, Hyperion will be lethal in close quarters and destroy the Lodge with ease. In the form of the 3 Myrmidons, it will be less devastating but it will be able to count on an unparalleled control of the playing field, being able to launch its spells from each of the 3 Myrmidons and being able to use its actions to activate all 3 Myrmidons.
Hyperion has its own base deck consisting of 6 unique Spells that you will find in this expansion, but during the game you will be able to acquire new spells just like a normal Mage, going to customize his style of play, and making each game always different.
Finally, in the expansion, you will find 2 new Forgotten Spells, usable in standard BRW games, which will allow you to summon both the 3 Myrmidons and Hyperion itself!
So to conclude this expansion will add a new powerful Mage that you can use in your normal games or in a new "one against all" mode, as well as getting two devastating new Forgotten Spells for your collection!

A Pledge for all Magisters

And now let's take a look at what is in Wave 2.
Mage Cards Correction
We have made a last-minute fix to the new Mage Cards which will replace the old Mage Sheets. Due to a production problem, the Mage Cards that are included inside the Sator Box were cut incorrectly and do not fit into the dedicated slot inside the 6 new Mage Sheets. We reprinted all Mage Cards to correct this problem but we didn't have time to insert them inside the Sator Boxes (they were already sealed), so you will find a blister pack outside the Sator box with the correct Cards. Simply replace the cards inside the Sator box with the ones you will find in the blister. On a minor positive note due to this issue, we also corrected the misprint on Skultor's Mage Card which had a wrong symbol. So everything in the blister are the correct ones to use.
Language Packs
This is one of the most complicated issues for us to handle and one that has created a lot of discussions.
There is no question that we made mistakes in the management of the Language Packs (LPs), creating a lot of confusion. Unfortunately, it was the first time that we were faced with this type of problem and despite the effort we put into it, we found ourselves faced with choices that did not always turn out to be right. We apologize to everyone for the inconvenience but today we will try to clarify the situation and solve all the problems that have occurred, also thanks to your feedback.
Anyone who has purchased an LP from an address other than the USA and Canada will receive the Sator Box with all printed material in the language of the chosen LP. The material includes all the Wave 1 cards and the SGs plus the Sator box manual.
As this change was not well communicated from the beginning, anyone who has purchased an LP but also wishes to have the cards in English can request them directly from us after the delivery of Wave 2. This is an additional Print on Demand service that we will print, which we will provide for free, hoping that those who request it actually need it (for example if you have an international group of players).
All the cards, in any language, are based on the latest version of the English cards, and therefore they are all updated in the same way, therefore there are no text/meaning differences between any card in English and the same card in Italian (for example).
A big change from what we have said until now concerns the LP's Core Game rulebooks; also in this case we will use the same Print on Demand formula (that we will print). Soon we will open a window of time in which all those who have purchased an LP and who want the rulebooks physical version, may request it from us and it will be sent to them for free. In the next update, we will explain exactly the procedure to make this request. In addition to this, of course, all rulebooks in all languages will be soon available in PDF version on our website.
A couple of Q&A to explain the more particular situations:
Q - But what if I bought more than one LP?
A - If you are one of the few Backers in this situation you will receive the Sator box in the language corresponding to your country of residence. All additional LPs, regardless of language, will be shipped separately after Wave 2 is delivered. For example, a German Backer who bought 2 LPs in German and 1 in Spanish will receive the Sator box in German, and will receive another German LP and one in Spanish later.
Q- I am from theUSA or Canada and I have purchased one or more LPs, how will I receive my Sator Box?
A- If you are one of the very few backers in this situation you will receive the Sator Box in English and after the delivery of wave 2 we will send you the LPs you have ordered.
We know these changes may sound a little weird, but the upside is that for a really low price everyone has had the chance to enjoy BRW in their own language.
We believe we have done our utmost to correct all errors in the management of LPs, an initiative that has proved more complicated than expected due to the huge number of material involved and that we will certainly not propose again in our future projects.
INFERNO
We have made 2 versions of Inferno, one in ENG/FRA, and another in GER/ITA/ESP. Given the limited number of cards in the expansion, we were able to optimize its production. Here is which version you will receive based on your pledge:
1 - If you have ordered an LP from an address other than the USA or Canada you will receive the version corresponding to the Language Pack you have ordered.
2 - If your Pledge was in English you will receive Inferno in the ENG / FRA version
3 - If your Pledge was in French you will receive Inferno in the ENG / FRA version
4 – If oyur Pledge was in German, Italian, or Spanish you will receive Inferno in the GER/ITA/ESP version
4 - All American and Canadian backers will receive Inferno in the ENG/FRA version and if you are among the few who have also ordered an LP you will receive the translated cards along with the LP after Wave 2.
Also for Inferno, we corrected a printing error at the last minute by reprinting the "Bolgia dei Simoniaci" tile room. In your package (outside Inferno), you will find an additional copy of this room to replace the incorrect one in the expansion.
Wow! What a long update! But now you are ready to receive your Wave 2, which with its enormous contents will make BRW a practically eternal game!

As announced some time ago, Nova Aetas' New KS will contain Hyperion, a real "Crossover Expansion" usable in both NA and BRW, which will feature a new Titan (so if you know Crono you can expect something really big). The great news for BRW players is that it will be possible to purchase this expansion individually with a dedicated pledge, a pledge that will also contain some "Crossover Stretch Goals" that can be used in both games! A small thank you for your patience, especially for those who joined the Call to Arms!

With all the Ships on the road (well, on the sea) we are preparing for the fulfillment final phase and we can't wait for this last step to be completed and that finally, everyone can enjoy the wonders of wave 2!
